SBC, which closed its merger with AT&T on Friday, plans to sell Cingular Wireless under the fabled AT&T name, Ed Whitacre, the chairman and CEO of the combined company, has confirmed to USA TODAY.

For those customers who moved from AT&T Wireless to Cingular Wireless, bad news, you’re back at AT&T. The company plans on revamping its image through its new logo (and most likely new marketing campaign).

A Cingular Wireless user myself, it’ll be another transition that I’ll have to go through in 2006. As there will not be any network changes made (only branding changes I hope), there shouldn’t be much disruption in service.

It’s all about the logo. The new at&t logo is much better than the legacy AT&T logo. It hasn’t changed much in terms of the globe, but it did in dimension (3D) and lowercase (from AT&T to at&t) which is welcoming. AT&T will most likely have a difficult time in its rebranding efforts with its old logo/tarnished image. A new, refreshed logo will go a long way in its rebuilding efforts. :)
